{"id":1910,"date":"2019-11-18T15:33:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T15:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mazurivanusa.com\/?p=1910"},"modified":"2021-03-04T15:37:00","modified_gmt":"2021-03-04T15:37:00","slug":"protocol-amending-the-ukraine-cyprus-tax-treaty-is-ratified","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mazurivanusa.com\/?p=1910","title":{"rendered":"Protocol Amending the Ukraine\/Cyprus Tax Treaty is Ratified"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 30 October 2019, the Ukrainian parliament ratified, and on 15 November 2019, the President of Ukraine signed the law ratifying the Protocol amending the Ukraine\/Cyprus double tax treaty dated 8 November 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Protocol is based on the OECD Model Tax Convention and is aimed at further development of trade and economic relations between Cyprus and Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The key novelties are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>5% tax on dividends will apply if the beneficial owner of the dividends is a company holding at least 20% of the capital of the company paying the dividends <strong>and<\/strong> that has invested at least \u20ac 100,000 into the purchase of shares. Previously, the pre-requisite for applying of the reduced rate was either qualifying holding or investment.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Reduced tax of 2% on interest will increase to 5%.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>With some exceptions, gains from disposal of shares in a company deriving at least 50% of their value from real estate located in the contracting state may be taxed in that state (exemptions include, for example, companies listed on approved stock exchange, public companies, real estate funds etc.).
