Oleg Mazur upon instruction of Asters, a leading Ukrainian law firm, has recently acted as independent Ukrainian banking law expert for the National Bank of Ukraine in the matter National Bank of Ukraine v. Mr Igor Kolomoisky, a high net worth individual, which was heard before the First Instance Court of the Republic and Canton of Genève (Tribunal de première instance République et Canton de Genève).
The proceedings related to enforcement of five personal suretyship agreements whereunder Mr Igor Kolomoisky undertook to be responsible before the National Bank of Ukraine for the timely repayment and discharge by PrivatBank of its payment obligations towards the National Bank of Ukraine in the amount exceeding UAH 6 billion under the relevant refinancing loans extended by the National Bank of Ukraine to PrivatBank from 2008 through 2015. The expert’s assignment on this very complex matter included preparation of several expert reports on the Ukrainian law questions addressed to the expert by the Court.
